On 7 December 2012, an informal meeting of the Asian Co-benefits Partnership (ACP) Advisory Group (AG) was held at the Royal Garden Hotel, Hong Kong, China as a side event of the Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2012. The meeting’s 12 participants shared information on 1) policies and projects related to co-benefits: 2) activities and endorsement of the ACP Work Plan 2012-2013; and 3) other issues. Much of the discussion focused on collaboration on short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs), the Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short Lived Climate Pollutants (CCAC), and an upcoming regional meeting on SLCPs in Asia sponsored by the CCAC.

This meeting was brief but informative. ACP activities are gradually taking shape with a growing emphasis on SLCPs in Asia. Sharing recent developments and organizational efforts to promote SLCPs mitigation has helped give the ACP a sharper focus. Attendees also identified a growing number of complementarities between emissions data collection, mitigation measures, and policy frameworks. Those activities and plans are closely aligned with existing ACP activities under the 2012-2013 Work Plan and are expected to help strengthen the capacity of Asian countries to link air quality, climate change and development issues.
